Above all, this object is really beautiful. It's hard to tell what it is, but once the clean-burning ethanol fire is lit, you get the idea. This is basically a reinvented fireplace. Since it uses ethanol, there is no point in having a chimney.
Piet is an indoor fireplace that features amazing brass reflectors, which will fill any room with warmth and light, while remaining safe thanks to a layer of rock wool fire insulation. This makes it possible to place it quite near walls or furniture. There is something quite magical about fire. Something like this can be used effectively to light a room diffusely. Plus, it will look gorgeous.
The outer wall is made out of clean-looking ceramic, which you can touch even if the fire is burning. It was designed by Fredrik Hyltén-Cavallius and named after Danish architect and mathematician Piet Hein. We can already see quite a few great applications of this stove. Usually, fireplaces are reserved for houses and high-end apartments. It would enable users to reorganize rooms quite effectively around the stove. The design has been made into prototypes, though we aren't sure of when it will be produced. We hope that it's going to be soon, because we'd like to have one in our place. We can just imagine the kind of dancing lights that the fire and brass produce.
