Behind the Blog with The Doctor's Closet

I had the pleasure of meeting Monika not long ago and can attest to the fact that she's as sweet and talented as she comes of in her blog, The Doctor's Closet. Known for her all out girly haven, and potentially the best genes ever (hi baby Liam!), I may or may not have jumped up and down when she allowed us to peek at her office. SMP: Tell us a little about The Doctors' Closet

My blog has really just been a reflection of the items/places/people I love, DIY's, latest home decor improvements and a place where I and my followers can just relax and be inspired. In my opinion, anything is doable, reachable and achievable, you just have to whole heartily move forward and do it! I hope that my blog and social media channels make that noticeable.

SMP: What's your number one blogging tip?

Be true to yourself. Follow and be true to your own style and branding.

SMP: Why do you think your blog has done so well?

I think growing any blog takes time. I think most of us would agree it truly doesn't happen over night. I believe that consistency, fresh material and personal style have been the key to my blog's growth. I also think it's important to grow a network of bloggers, photographers, designers etc, that you can trust and rely on and feed off one another, working together to pull off amazing features and projects! I'm constantly on the look our for new people to partner with! That's what makes the ideas and brain storming fresh and new!

SMP: If you could do it all over again, would you change anything?

There are a few circumstances that I wish never turned out the way they did. If I could go back in time to change things for the better I certainly would. But on the most part no regrets!

SMP: If you could buy yourself a gift of any cost, what would it be and why?

An endless airline ticket around the world, available at any time. I find traveling the best way to escape, relax, learn, strengthen relationships and of course make unforgettable memories!

SMP: What's one thing you never leave the house without.

My phone!

SMP: What's your secret to success?

One day at a time! My goals and destinations keep changing. It helps me not stress about possibly failing (big hurdle of mine) and thinking you're disappointing people around you.

SMP: What's one small design change that can make a big impact?

Wall color!!! If you have dark walls, paint them white, or at least a light color! It will do wonders for your mood, design palate ... and yes, I'm going to say it- instagram photos.

SMP: What advice would you give to your younger self?

Oh there would be a long list! I wish I wasn't such a people pleaser and trying to be perfect for others. It made failing that much harder on myself! Now I try to take it easy and surprisingly enough, have come further along than before!

SMP: The best advice you've ever received?

Choose your battles. Life is too short and precious to stay mad, be mad or fight over stupid things. I have to keep reminding myself, it's definitely not easy. I've learnt to cherish my every new morning, my family and friends.

SMP: Five things every stylish homeowner should have?

- An amazing rug

- A statement light/pendants

- Conversation starting pillows

- Artwork

- A comfy couch

- A great bed!
