You might be seeing blog buzz (largely stemming from Elle Decor's April issue shopping feature) featuring Artemide's Miconos lighting collection, pictured here. But though some are mistakenly ballyhooing the lights--which are beautiful, by the way--as a "new" line, you sharp-memory-havin' ID fans will remember that the Miconos was designed back in 1998. Not that we're complaining about the resurgence; anything that puts great design back on the map is a good thing, kind of like how a rash of '80s movies put Aretha Franklin standards back on the charts.
The Miconos Collection was designed by Ernesto Gismondi, the former aeronatucs engineer who went on to found Artemide back in 1959. The glass-globe-encased bare bulb designs come in table, pendant, wall, and free-standing forms.
